From what I can see it looks like a dshk 12.7mm Heavy Machine Gun. :wink:

This is an NSV. Was a replacement for the DSHK. In Russian service the NSV has been replaced by the KORD. All were 12.7x108

On second glance, it is also installed in the mount wrong

Looks like it has been pieced back together and then welded using a cake decorator tip .

Yeah, typical demil, then welded back together to look like a gun

agreed but the top cover feed area and ammo can holder don't line up and the front mount point and the actual mount don't line up.

That was what I meant in the earlier post. In the first photo there is a tab on the receiver that goes into a groove on the cradle. This a type of tank cupola "soft mount". The NSV recoils within this mount to alleviate battering damage. The NSV will beat itself to pieces if rigidly mounted

Would help to post the picture of the whole monster/tracked vehicle.

As for 12.8mm being .50 cal, Dshk round is about 6% to 8% more powerful than the .50 cal. I have lots of respect for that round as I had a Dshk. Not that anyone came back complaining that the .50 cal was not adequate when they got shot.
