Interesting. I hope it's not a idiotic frenzy for pricing.I would like to see a 1 per person limit per year

If your M1911 is all original, don't worry about it losing value as it is a collector example not a shooter class pistol. While the condition, finish, wear & mfger will have some part of valuing yours, it's better I think if it is all original than a put-together for the discriminating buyers who are interested in this sale along with the guys who just want a .45ACP to put in their holster and uniform. You can bet these are not really M1911s but rather M1911A1s or a mix-mash of WWI, WWII, KW and modern replacement parts...in other words, not collectable M1911s.
Oh sure, there may be some small percentage of them that sat in an armory through WWII, through KW through 'Nam, and through DS-1 and DS-2, Somalia, Grenada actions and may still be in the original Colt/Remington, etc. packaging but don't get yer hopes up on that! Those will either not make it to the general public or be sold for a ridiculous amount. Those hoping to snag a factory-boxed Singer or Union Switch & Signal ought to start buying lottery tickets as they'd have a better chance of winning there than getting one of those pistols.
However, for the guy who wants an M1911A1 to SHOOT, they'll probably be a fine weapon as they may be arsenal refinishes and quite nice looking and operate as they should so for those guys...this is probably a decent option to looking at garbage ads on some of the internet sites that offer firearms.
The grading system to be used and hence the price points will probably be a good indication of what to expect and feed back from the early buyers on price and condition will tell the tale for the prospective buyers.
Until they hit the marketplace all is conjecture...
