I should have you a left plate finished tomorrow. On the back plate you're working on, It may pin hole a bit if you use a mig to weld the halves together. A little preheat will help some. You may consider inserting a rod that fits well on the inside of the buffer tube as a backing bar for welding. If pin holing persists I have a few 12018 3/32" stick electrodes that will do the job. I'll put them in the package with the plate. Then again you may not have any trouble at all. What do you plan to do for a trunnion?

I found that a tow shackle pin fits about perfect. It'll add some weight for the back end since it will have no internals. If will be long enough that I will cut a slot in the end to simulate the buffer tube threaded plug.
Still contemplating the trunnion. Keeping my eye out for a junk one. Even a junk one makes assembly much easier.

I have a 1919 trunion with jacket that is a little buggered as someone tried to remove it with pliers. You can have it for $20 and price of shipping from Ga. if interested

You may want to consider repairing the left plate you have. Once you have a trunnion in hand the fit up will be simple to reweld. I have a plate profile cut out and the missing pieces on yours could be cut out of mine. I haven't put any holes in the profile. Once a trunnion is present the holes can be more accurately located from there. I've been slacking lately with disc copying but I'll get busy this evening.

Oh yeah, that's a fine looking bottom plate you've started there!

Worked on the belt pawl bracket for the lhsp. Thankfully there is only 1! Used 3/8" flat stock. All cutting was done with a grinder and cleaned up with files. I was lucky to have half of the original bracket and the outline on the other lsp piece. The measurements aren't exact but for eyeballing it and rechecking, I was pretty impressed myself.

If those plates I sent don't work out let me know. I've sheared out a couple of strips 3 15/16ths" wide from a sheet. In order to minumize drawing of the sheets under the heat of a torch I could drill a hole at each turn and slice with a cut off wheel. A little labor intensive but very effective in reducing distortion. One must be tenatious when machine shop equipment isn't available. Anyway, let me know how they work out.

Working on a trunnion that will accept a real barrel. I'm still waiting on a junk trunnion and barrel jacket. Until then this will work for another build if I choose to do so.

Man that looks good! Makes me want to get started on one. I don't have the first real 1919a4 part to even look at let alone to measure up. I do have drawings though. It'll be hard to reproduce that hand grip. I could use a 1917 style with wood. That rear sight would be a bugger too. The pawl bracket would be easier though!
