Assuming the Converto uses the same light buckets as the jeep, the crimper for the spade ends is exorbatantly expensive. You can get pigtails from a certain very popular vendor who may support (cough provide) this forum.
I am assuming you are referring to these. He has some modern made ones on his site under the electrical page that look suitable if I cannot restore these.

Special parts will include
1. 2-1 connectors
2. light socket connectors (single and double)
3. male and female bullet ends for the 2-1 connector
4. ring connectors
5. 2-1 connector insulator

Those are the ones!

The parts for the spring light socket connectors are very expensive. 15-25 per socket depending on where you purchase them. I have 5 or 6 in the workshop from other old projects, but perhaps I can find the little spring plunger portions separately. Still looking.

Cheapest here at $11 which pushes the harness cost up by $44 if you can't salvage from an original. Original connectors seem scarce and are getting expensive. I understand why.

Today I repaired the huge gaping hole in the top of the lunette socket. As mentioned earlier I had to grind quite a bit away to get the Allen key out of the hole along with all of the metal that was fused together. I used the old piece from the lunette, covered the top with a piece of copper and inserted it firmly into the socket. The copper prevented my new weld repair from flowing into the socket. It made a nice concentric closure at the bottom of the hole. After filling the top with welded metal, I filed the profile back to match the curve of the top of the socket. Will post some pics later.

Wires and switch are in. Not sure if the switch is correct WW2 or not. Perhaps one of you can advise.

I was unaware the Converto had that switch, but it looks right.

The box arrived. All looks great!

Here is the first 70" lead, B-1 from above. I used new ring and bullet terminals and shrink wrap and salvaged the old 2-1 connector and its insulator from the existing wiring harness.

I have heard some folks mention they liked to use new plastic coated wire instead of the vintage look wire because of the plastic insulation. Well....this stuff I purchased is cloth loom over 14 gauge conventional electrical wire. It is insulated so there should be no worries.

A very quick job. All that is remaining is to put on the asphalt loom and solder on the socket parts when they arrive.

Just a note on parts for Converto Trailers

If anyone needs some of the odd pieces, contact:

jeepjop

on the G503 forum. He seems to have a sampling of different parts that are not found elsewhere.

I could not find a definitive reference for the COnverto wiring harness size and don't have a gauge handy to verify. A notable vintage wiring company uses 14ga to build their Converto harnesses. According to on-line vintage wiring harness sources, 14ga wire is suitable for loads up to 32 amps. This all makes sense now.

I have ordered appropriately colored and ticked cloth covered vintage-esque 14ga wire to build a harness. I will salvage all of the connectors (replace where necessary) and make a harness covered with the correct protective covering. Will post images as I progress later. Here is the site I purchased from at $0.60/ft

From Ernest, a very nice jam nut and washer. Thanks very much. The generosity of G503 members is always comforting. :)

My order came in from Tractor12. What a great haul. Not pictured are the ends for the light sockets. I am very pleased with everything. Go Mark!

This is posted here: http://1942willys.homestead.com/convert ... agram.html

"These measurements are based on Converto wiring that I have observed however it was not proven accurate from an original wiring harness or diagram. The dimensions are based on my observation and measurement of a trailer that was equipped with a wiring harness of unknown origin. They could be accurate however, they may not be. These dimensions should get you started. You should investigate and use all resources to successfully and accurately complete your specific wiring task. Thanks

B1 - 70" to "3 way connector block then 52" for each leg to light.
B2 - B3- B4 - 123" each"

My comment:

The measurements are spot on with the original harness taken from my Converto.
