Well after the disappointment of being told the trailer was sold, I left my number with the previous owner and actually got a call back that the other buyer backed out. So now I have Converto 0650749 to restore along with my 45 MB. The trailer is in very good shape with no rust through and some faint traces of original paint. What is odd to me is it has 3 data tags. the standard factory 2 and 1 Corps of Engineers. Looks to have an M38 rim on one side and a standard non reinforced combat on the other. Only thing it is missing is the ring on the lunette and the dump handle. Still has the taillights and reflectors .This one will have to wait until I get further on my jeep, but it is safe and sound in my storage.

Great looking Converto, I have been doing some investigation on the release T Pin the is used to lock the Lunette Leg, there is some reference in the TM that it may have been spring loaded, the photos I have seen is that the pin was either a T pin or pin with a Ring and safety chain. Does your converto have an extended boss that may contain a spring?

Mine has the spring loaded t pin. The original was badly bent over at almost a 90 degree angle. I bent it out as straight as possible and made a new one. Problem is it does not seat all the way. Probably why the original got bent.

Re: Converto 0650749
Thank-you for your quick reply us Converto Owners have had discussion on if the T Pin was spring loaded, when you look at the TM you will see a reference as you showed with the T Pin, Spring, Washer and Cotter Pin.
How long is the Boss welded on the side and what is the total length of the pin, you did a great job reproducing it. My Converto shows signs that there was a Boss on the side but it was missing the T Pin. My converto was a total basket case not a straight piece of metal on the whole trailer. Good Luck with your restoration.
