The facets on your VERY NICE Ben HUR water trailer appear to be brass. The only ones I can find on the website are steel/chrome. Help! PS, I bought the G527 that was at ArmyCarsUSA. Paul

Hello, the valve pictures on the website are chrome but they don't show an individual pictures of the 301SC, 302SC,301SCPE and 302SCPE they are brass to my knowledge, (If you look again at the Champion-Arrowhead website you'll see the "chrome" ones are about $20 bucks more with longer part numbers) and congratulations on your "New" old trailer! Your trailer was the inspiration for my "wood" hose rack! Nothin' quite like tryin' to reverse engineer a three dimentional part from a two dimention picture. Ha! I wanted to ask Kevin Kronlund if he would sell the valve box backing plates, but I didn't have the cash and I figured It would make the next owner have a harder time trying to restore the trailer. With the backing "plates" you can make the covers easier, also the tank and pump were very complete considering its age! Good luck, Wear a respirator while sandblasting and properly store/identify things when you take it apart so you can remember where it goes when the time comes to bolt it back together! If you find a source that sells a 3.5 inch internal leather seal for the transfer pump let me know, And post you photos as your working on the old girl!

What are the dimensions of the valve box backing plate. Looking at the various references it seems the length is 20 inches but I cannot figure the width and height. Anyone have an original to measure?

Thanks

I just got a 1942 Ben Hur G-527 and I am going to need the faucet boxes and the tray. If you are not making them I would appreciate the dimensions.

Hello, I was doin' rough figuring for the cost of manufacture, $400.00 for me to make the boxes. I will pass on my dimentions if you do not want to have me make a set. Here are some rough figures:
1-$240 - have metal shop make "blank" boxes out of 1/8th thick mild steel
2-$20 - have the faucet holes drilled in with a drill press
3-$20 - have the hinge holes dilled in to mount the hinges on the top
4-$20 - buy the hinges (6) 3 screen door kits
5-$20 - buy and weld on "tabs" for the door clips/chain
6-$20 - buy and install "dog chain" for the door securement/deploymnent
7-$10 - hardware for installation of hinges and "dog chain"
8-$50 - labor and parts accquisition
9-$??? - shipping and handling (maybe 20-30 lbs)

I will have to re-measure the boxes tomorrow when I am by the trailer, but I have a tid-bit of trailer info to pass, check out cckw.org and the trailer areas-
http://www.cckw.org/Water_Buffalo_Prod_Data.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. There's production info about Contract, U.S.A., serial numbers and quantitys of trailers manufactured! Good stuff! I'm trying to use this list to figure out the "U.S.A." number on my trailer, but I don't know if "Springfield Auto Works" is the same as "Springfield Wagon & Trailer".

Thanks Pintelhook11over for starting this thread and sharing your
progress on the faucet covers you built.
We built a set for our project trailer and they turned out good.
We used 14 gauge metal that I had left over from building the
tank. It bends pretty easy and they are still pretty sturdy.
