Resizing cases for 37mm Gun, Antitank, M3A1 US
Sizing cases. Large stack of stuff, see pic. I am full length resizing because that is the die set I have. A lot of them probably need it anyway because they were really swollen. Some were not too bad but none would chamber in my gun. The first one took me years to complete, finding and buying equipment and figuring out how to use it. The next one took me a couple of hours, stuck cases, adjustments on the press, finding more spacers etc. I am down to 15 to 21 minutes now after about 10 cases done.

Test fired my reloads. Three worked fine. The other 3 would not chamber because when I had pressed in the projectiles they were slightly off, so that left a .023 bump in case on one side in neck area, so they would not chamber.

What lubricant, did you end up using, for resizing the cases ?

The reccomendation from the die set was to use "MasterPro Hi Temp Disc Wheel Bearing Grease" but I could not find it so I bought the stuff in the pic from Walmart. It was red and high temp so it looked the same, but the die set said any wheel bearing grease would work. Do not use small arms case lube or the dies will stick. The process was:
1. Clean with Scotch Brite Maroon Pads for metal I bought at Menards.
2.Wipe it clean so you can feel no grit.
3.Grease the case with the wheel bearing grease, then wipe gently with a rag until the case feels greasy but you can not see the red grease. Just needs a thin layer.
3.Then I pressed on my die set one peice at a time with a $120 Harbor Freight 12ton Hydraulic press. Sometimes when the case was espcially swollen I would regrease the middle third again, after the first die was pressed to the bottom of the case. The first die would seem to wipe the case dry and I would get a lot of chatter(sudder?) when I pressed on the second die.
4.I have not gotton any cases stuck yet, knock on wood.

easy cheap hack to final size neck after projo set

Post by waterdawg2004 » Sat Jul 22, 2017 5:37 pm

I was having problems with fit in my 37mm with some of my unfired cases after I pressed in the projo. I used a $8 pipe clamp from amazon to squeeze the neck back down to size. Now my cases fit perfect and slide right in with out hanging up. Cheap hack see pic.

Pulling projos

Post by waterdawg2004 » Sun Jul 23, 2017 9:57 am

Tried to pull some projectiles by using the inertia method with a piece of pipe, almost worked but would not come out all the way, also beat up the concrete on my garage floor. So made a slide hammer type puller with a part from my die set and a $8 pipe clamp from amazon. Worked but still had to do a lot of banging on the case, see pic. Anybody out there got any other ideas?
