Interest in blank fire kits for 37mm m3,m3a1,m6?
All
Some of you have one of my 37mm to 25mm blank fire only subcaliber conversions I've sold in years past. I'm thinking of making another run and want to check interest.
What is it? Basically an insert into the chamber the same size as a 37mm but with a 25mm chamber inside it.
How does it work? You insert it into your 37mm cannon chamber. It's held in place with a rubber O ring around the insert. Some force required to install and remove (a couple hits with a wood block). With modified 25mm bushmaster cases you can insert and eject cases as easily as a normal 37mm
What are the benefits? Several. You won't tear up your $50 cases. No more risking of dropping one and bending a 37mm neck. You save a ton of time reloading, no multiple step primer system. Just punch out old, press in new. Unconverted Bushmaster cases are $5-$10. When I go to an event I have 50 plus shells read to fire. The 25mm steel cases are much harder to damage. You can reuse them hundreds of times.
What modifications to gun are required? Nothing to the gun except the firing pin needs to be lathed to a point like a normal firing pin. The bushmaster cases use standard 50 cal primers (after modification)
What modifications to cases are required? Cases get a large washer welded to ends same size as 37mm rim. This allows them to eject correctly from gun. The primer hole gets a bushing pressed in so that it will now accept a 50 cal primer. The insert wil stay in place and not have to be pressed in again during reloads.
How loud? Very loud! I use black powder. Total max load is around 3oz. Plenty enough to rattle windows and hearing protection is highly recommended.
How much? Guessing $400 for the insert. Converting cases and firing pins extra.

Ok. Cost of insert if I get 5 people to buy in will be $375. each. Including parkerized finish and o ring. If you want a turned down firing pin (required to fire 50 cal primers) cost is $60. Each round modified to work will be $9 each.
So for basic cost comparison $800 would get you an insert, firing pin and 40 rounds. That's the same cost as 16 full size 37mm cases
