I do not know when Gun Books were introduced in the US Army but I do have one for a US 40mm ADA gun from the WW2 Era that was transferred to the Iraqi Army post war. Not surprisingly, all records of gun maintenance end with the transfer. I also have several Gun Books for missile systems in the Yugoslavian Army dating from before the start of the Civil War in 1991. I also have what I think to be a German Artillery Gun Book that is blank so not filled out in pen with the maintenance schedule. This book is from the 1890s to 1900s.
