57mm ATG dimensions?
I'm thinking, like many of you, about mocking up a nice 20 footer 57mm ATG to pull behind a vehicle. I've amassed tons of photos and lots of steel scraps but zero plans, schematics, or listed dimensions. If any one can provide a few measurements I hopefully can reverse engineer a reasonable copy in my spare time. Needed dimensions are 1: armor thickness 2: tails cross section sizes (ex 3"x4"??) and length from pivot to pintle 3: barrel length without the breach, just the visible round part of the barrel 4: distance between wheels or axle length 5: finally overall armor top to bottom and side to side dimensions. I live near Kansas City so if anyone knows of one at a VFW, park, or cemetery that would work just as well. Thank you in advance if anyone can help.

Re: 57mm ATG dimensions?
Seems all the 57mm at owners spent so much money on the guns that they can't afford a tape measure.

Re: 57mm ATG dimensions?
Ok...
I THINK I got what you wanted......
Look at this photo of my 57mm. You can see the front plate is narrower at the bottom than at the top. You can also see there are cut outs for the tires.... So here goes.....
1. Armor is 1/4" thick
2. Trails are 3.5 X 5"
3. Trail length 107" Not including ring.
4. Barrel length 110"
5. Tire with 60" canter of tire to center of tire
6. Armor front, top to bottom 30"
7. Front top wide 29"
8. Front bottom wide 17"
9. Side top 15" log
10. Bottom 30"
11. Bottom has 10" cut out for tires.
12. Top of side to top of cut out for tires is 16".
If you ever make it to Memphis, let me know...
Hope this helps.

Re: 57mm ATG dimensions?
Not trying to hijack this thread but, THANKS! Some basic dimensions plus all the pictures you've posted, (And a plastic model and a scale ruler.) will help a lot! A few ton of scrap and little to no supervision at work doesn't hurt either. By the way, your AT gun looks amazing, especially when you look at what you started with!

Re: 57mm ATG dimensions?
Thanks,
I was told by several friends, that is was not restorable, and use it on a pedestal on a halftrack. But I think it turned out well...
For people who have not seen it, here is what it looked like when I got it........

As a wise man once said: Until it's melted down for scrap, it can be restored!

Re: 57mm ATG dimensions?
Thank you so much!!! I've read through your resto and it's beautiful. I haven't been as lucky to find a real one to restore but with your help hopefully someday I'll have a nice reproduction to pull along. Thank you again for taking the time to measure up you real ATG. This is why I joined this site, the amazing military equipment owners willing to help others with their knowledge and expertise. Thank you again for all your help and keep posting your pictures.

Re: 57mm ATG dimensions?
Hi if you want a road trip to measure what ever you want I'm only about 3 hours north of K.C. in Anita Iowa. I have one restored and some spare original parts (main swivel and mount, about 4 ft of trailing legs, part of the front axle) let me know if you want to drive up and look Thanks Murphy
