Pack Howitzer refinishing

As issued, how was the breech ring finished - paint, parkerizing, left unfinished? And the breech block; parkerized, greased?

Nice project. Who made the ring. GE or draper?

I would park first as a portion will not be painted including the threads and where the block slides
If your gun doesn't leak oil, it's time for a bigger gun.

Breech ring and barrel, GE; stupid autocorrect. Merry Christmas to all.

Postwar everything was parkerized, wartime the ring was painted, and block was unfinished and kept greasy.

Exept on some salute guns, there the ring was polished bare metal.

Hope this helps,
