Is there a story behind the gun? Wish I could find a torch cut mess like that in a scrap yard around here...

It can be done, but that will be some work.
If your gun doesn't leak oil, it's time for a bigger gun.

It was not torch cut, it was shot up. it came off a old firing range. I was told. Barrel is bad, and recoil mech is bad, so it will never be live fire, but will make a good static display, or blank fire.

Has a couple bullet holes on the trails I going to leave.

I wish you luck in your restoration, but I don't see that gun as being restorable............it's too far gone. You must really know what you're doing! Pat

What happened to the barrel and recoil mechanism? I think the gun is repairable, to some degree. It won't be cheap, or easy, but its doable.

That pile of Christie parts at Ft. Knox....Jesus. Even I am not that optimistic. I've seen photos of vehicles hit by nuclear weapons that look more restorable.

It was setting on the range barrel pointed up. Bottom of chamber pretty well gone. Also recoil mech spring broken in 3 places. And area where seals ride shot,

On the Christie....

I'm not sure that I would call that a restoration, more like a replica..... :D

A guy I know was boring out and sleeving a 57mm chamber that had been ruined by rust. Ordnance.com was selling some 57mm recoil springs a few years ago. Seal area could be built up with weld and turned, or sleeved, bushed, etc. Anything is possible if you wanna go there. Otherwise, it's a nice display piece.
