M4 105mm Howitzer

Post by usfm » Mon Mar 03, 2014 10:41 pm

Hi,
I wanted to find some Information about the dimensions and other Infos on the 105mm Howitzer M4.
But the only things I found on the net was about the M4 Sherman with this Howitzer, nothing special on the barrel or Mount.
The only vehicle I know who used this How were the M4 Assault Howitzer and the M37 HMC,
or are there other?
What time where they produced? How many? There are different numbers on the net.

I would be really happy about any pics or Information about this Howitzer.

Thank you,
Christian

Thank you.
Is this production number for the vehicle, or for the Howitzer mounted in the sherman?
Are there any M4 Barrels build after 1945 for the M37 Howitzer Motor Carriage?

The Pictures of this M4 were taken in Bastogne, 15 years ago, I only have them on paper, so I took a Picture with my digi cam, so quality is low.

What info do you need? Do you have a barrel? If so I would be interested.

I have the manual on the M4 Howitzer,TM 9-324

M4A3 Sherman, M37 Gun Motor carriage, also shows it in the M45 Tank. They could have made barrels after 1945

Hi Dan,

No Barrel, sorry.
I would like to see a pic of this barrel without mount.
Also I'm interested in the dimensions like weight, how long it is with breech and the barrel only.
Thank you.

No, not that I know of. I have been collecting any and every manual having to do with the M24 M37 M19 M41 Chaffee series, and this is the only one of these I have seen. The manual I have is new and unused so it does not open flat very well. You can understand I don't want to flatten this out to much for fear of breaking the spine. I will help you with all I can.
