WW1 MIA1 Chemical motor and ammunition cart

Post by Elk » Mon Jul 24, 2017 7:24 pm

Hi,

My father passed and left me his WW1 MIA1 chemical motor and ammunition cart. The cart was modified in the 1970s to transport a pontoon boat so the hitch was replaced and the tires were replaced with motorcycle tires. Can anyone tell me anything about this cart? Would a museum be interested in acquiring it or because it has been modified, is it no longer valued? As I understand, it has original wheels, axle and suspension. If I sold it, what might it be worth? The cart has been used as a workbench so in the picture its covered with a workbench frame and debris.

These are the best pictures that I have at this time.

Thank you for your thoughts.

It would be great for parts but could be restored. I paid 250 dollars for mine a few years ago. I don't think they have a huge value though

As is, all of the value is in the rims and the dataplate in my opinion. Should be worth $250 for those alone (and a lot easier to ship). Few people have the WW2 mortar which limits interest in these carts tremendously.

Jeff is right. I own a NFA 4.2 mortar but already have the cart. The cart was mainly used to transport the mortar, so if you don't have the mortar the cart doesn't really have much value.
