I see a lot of the Stewart and Stevenson LMTV 1081 for sale at around 10-16,000 with "low miles". THe prices seem reasonable for what you are getting. What is everyone's experience with them? Are they good trucks, can you get them licensed in most states, are they reasonable to service and maintain?
Just wondering?

Re: Stewart and Stevenson LMTV 1081
I have a friend that has one and drives it to lots of shows and many miles. He really loves it.
The one funny thing he said about it was the automatic transmission learns how the driver(s) drives and adjusts to optimize. His was shifting at crazy times and really hard. He wondered what recruit was driving this truck! So he took the truck down to an authorized Allison transmission shop and had them reset the memory so the transmission would start over. It has driven like a charm since.

Thanks for the info. They look like a cool ride. Was wondering if they are expensive to operate, gas not withstanding. I was hearing the HUMVs were a nightmare to fix and keep running, but that was just anecdotal info. Was wondering if these are the same. Would make a great disaster vehicle and medium farm hauler with pzazz.
