I drove past this the other day and snapped a quick pic. Looks fairly complete. Thought you guys might like to see it too.

Re: Diamond T wrecker sighting
Thanks.
The lack of rear mudguard gives the rear body a shortened look.
Or, has the rear axles been moved rearward a foot or so?
Sam.

Re: Diamond T wrecker sighting
When I bought mine the whole tandem assembly was moved about 16 inches, the rear tires were flush with the wrecker body.
Thy did it so it can lift heaver vehicles. I moved mine back to where it originally was,I learned you now can not pick up either end of a 981,the wrong end goes up. looks like they did the same to this one.
Jeff

Re: Diamond T wrecker sighting
Well, I just learned about a limitation of my truck!
Thanks Jeff.
Originally, the rear end is directly in line with the chassis strengthening cross members/etc and, significantly, where the cranes frame brace (sometimes called the spare tire rack!?!) is attached to the body and down to this chassis strengthened section using 'U' bolts. To move the rear end rearward will move it away from the centre of the strongest part of the chassis.
But it must have worked, otherwise they would not have done it. Shows how over-engineered the whole truck is!!! (IMHO)
Sam.
