There were Slave receptacles that could be added, and cold starting kits that were mounted in jeeps and used to boost tactical vehicles. Not sure when they first became available during WWII.
The instructions for the Evanair Heater describe installing a tarp around the bottom of the trucks.

Kinda boring, things seem to be slow, my MV's are resting in doors and snowbound. Easiest way to share and enjoy them is here on G-503.
I do fire off the CCKW periodically just as there is a lot of iron sitting there and it's old bones could use a little heat-mine too.
That Yellow Bridge plate? Compliments of Willy here on G-503 a few years back. Many Euro Return CCKW's still had their bridge plates, don't remember seeing many on fresh surplus CCKW's here in the US back in the 40's-50's.

REMINDER:
The OEM Trailer Socket and Door for CCKW (Chevy, too,) are manufactured by DELCO and not WARNER as on Jeeps. They have slightly different features.
The DELCO brand are hard to come by.

Another Do-Dad for your CCKW that is sure to start a conversation would be a set of 6 Volt Electric Defrosters. Sorry, no pics as I am not anywhere near my NOS Defrosters.
They mount to the inner windshield via 4 suction cups and do restrict the limited vision of the Closed Cab CCKW' When considering adding defrosters to your MV be aware that these will all be WWII vintage and time takes a toll. There are at least 4 different brands, and they may be junk although NOS. What happens is that the rubber seal on some gets hard and brittle and will not allow the device to compress against the glass, others may have broken grid wires, and some will have suction cups that have hardened.
Back in the 40's-50's when fresh Jeeps, CCKW's roamed the roads, these defrosters were popular and good sellers.

Just found one of my long lost CCKW Do-Dads that has been missing 20 years. The Factory made Canvas Head Light covers with the stenciled numbers that secure to the CCKW Head Lamp Assys with a strap and buckle. Bet no one has seen one of these. :wink

The OEM Snatch Block is a good conversation piece. It came on an new CCKW we bought at the end of WWII and has been in my family in unused condition for 72 0r 73 years.

And best of all, start up the CCKW and let the observers enjoy the healthy bark of the Governed GMC 270 with 100% OEM factory exhaust system and 1944 dated NOS Muffler. The sound of WWII comes alive with the turn of a genuine H-700 Key in the NOS DELCO CCKW Ignition Switch. Open the CCKW hood and watch them drool over the NOS 270 with all its GM bolt on accessories.
You Jeep guys out there can do the same in your G-503 trucks.
Did I mention the NOS WWII Issue Heavy Duty Tow Chain that is made to tow Jeeps and all the larger WWII MV's? Or the Hand Crank that requires the winch cable to be unwound before it can be used to crank the engine? The GI Tow Chain that comes with the CCKW feels like it weighs as much as a Jeep  And don't forget to show off the Wheel Weights that make a CCKW with balanced tires travel a lot smoother and quieter on the highway.
That Wooden Steering Wheel, why is it made of wood, and explain how WWII GI's were lean and trim and how one can spot some of todays' CCKW drivers due to their big gut that gives their T shirt that tell tale horizontal black stain. Oh and mention your friend Dr. Deuce that has over 70,000 Plus miles in his restored CCKWs who does not have that "CCKW Belly" problem.

HI Steve!!!,
I'm having CCKW Fun, just like you.

The 6X6 now has the OEM WWII Guide Head Lamps installed. They are a nice but duller lamp due to wartime alternate reflector material. It is very easy to overdrive your vehicle with these duller lamps due to the shorter sight distance projected.

ONE MORE ITEM OF NOTE:
This CCKW now drinks NON ETHANOL Gasoline only, same as me JEEPS.

As chains are a standard accessory for my trucks and I have no chance of finding any hereabouts, I am making my own. The chain you mention may be the correct issue for the 'utility' chain issued with my DT969. If the links are made from 7/16" or 5/8" material, I'd be interested in getting some detailed sizes of it, if possible.

I have seen his ad. I suspect it is a post WW2 chain that may or may not be the same as WW2. Dunno.

Also, I can't possibly justify the cost of the shipping of possibly several hundred pounds of steel o/s.
But thanks for the suggestion.

Sizes of your chain?

TIA.
Sam.

Oval Guide A2 Reflectors with Stimsonite 12 Lenses also make for good conversation It took a number of years to find 2 NOS Guide A2 w/Amber Lenses foe my CCKW, the Red was easier to come by.

One Do-Dad I wish I held onto is the NOS Hard Rubber OD Steering Wheel. It is now on one of the two CCKW's that Mark Norman restored to like new and donated to the National WWII Museum. It's a good feeling to donate to a cause, especially to the "Greater Generation".
The NOS Closed Cab Seat Back Cushion installed ib the closed cab has been in my family since before the Korean War, it is OD Duck and was NOS in the wrapper until I changed my 1st Series back to a 1574 Closed Cab. I am forever grateful to Kevin Kronlund for giving me the Closed Cab and Bob Rubino for restoring the cab..
There are some fine folks in this MV hobby that do favors with no strings attached.

Cherished CCKW DO-DADS.
I have a couple cherished Do-Dads that have a place of honor hanging from the rear view mirror in my CCKW, they are the Dog Tags worn by my Uncle Joe as a Ranger in both combat and as a POW during the Battle of the Bulge, my original Army Dog Tags, and an H-700 Key attached to a Dog Tag.
The H-700 Key has been altered in order that it cannot be removed from the Ignition Switch of CCKW Shop Van USA 471483 that was used in Combat with Service Battery, 47th Field Artillery, 5th Armored Division.
I got curious and inserted the altered key in a CCKW switch without thinking. I got it out after a while.
