We greatly appreciate your CCKW restoration adventure as you post your progress, as you are our only CCKW fix,
as your great truck is the only one being carried out here on the great G503 !!!

I think with the C26 you have enough evidence to say the 1st Infantry Division.
With a little more front bumper work you should find that 1-X that seems to be there.

As far as the USA hood number, try to piece together the numbers that you uncovered on the tail gate,
as that would be the same as the hood numbers.

It's been a while, but I am slowing getting through the rust.

It the cooler time of the year here now, so it's making it easier to work and feel comfortable while welding.

Photos add this time are just more rust repairs being done.

Oh.............BTW ,,,,,,make sure everyone while you are cutting, welding and fixing your GMC trucks to be careful. Yesterday the grinder flicked back and smashed me in the head, knocking me to the ground and opening up a large wound on my head.....ouch.

Welcome back.

Like you, I have had several long spells of no postings at all. Sometimes, life gets in the road.

Sounds like you "dodged a bullet" with the grinder. They behave for a long time, then, I let my guard down a bit and WHACK, they bite you. I've never been thrown off my feet though! I wish a fast recovery for you.

Anyway, I look forward (as many others do, I expect) to more posts as you are able.
