I assume these are the 3 Each Flat Head Screws that secure the brake drums to the M-38A1 Hubs. They are Willys Part Number GM-120585, Bolt, slotted flat head 1/4" NC X 5/8". They were originally 3/8" long on the M-38 and were changed to the longer 5/8". Some SNL's describe the length as 11/16". Your local hardware store can help you. I have plenty if you cannot get any.

Joel, they are for my 44 GMC CCKW.These measures that you said are for Jeep M38-A1 and M38.I will try the SNL G-508 and copy the screws that I have in the other drum. Thanks for your input.

Hi fernando,

You are looking for ( Screw, fl-slotted-hd., S., 5/16 - 18 x 3/4" )

The part number is GM-114663 or H001-1023149.

This screw was also used by Allis-Chambers under their part number 909024 in most likely the M4 and M6 Hi-Speed tractors.

I doubt your local hardware store in Brasil stocks this screw. If you need help getting some here in the States just let me know.

I thought the reference to the "intermediate" Rh drum was strange, Here is the size for the Rear Demountable Drum on the CCKW.

BANJO and Split Axle Drums are different.

BANJO GM 114633, 5/16"-18 X 3/4" Screw flat head

SPLIT Axle GM 191913, 1/2"-13 X 7/8" Screw, flat head

If you cannot easily get them over there, I can get them here in slotted or recessed (Phillips).
No problem over here, I may even have them in my CCKW stock.
I actually used Flat Head made with Allen Head Socket on my truck as they are easier to tighten or loosen.

Fernando, I have the Flathead with Allen Head Socket on my CCKW shelf, let me know via email if I can help.

Joel,Allen is a good idea.My mechanic friend did not put these three screws because he thought these are difficult to loose when need.I am planning to change all the linings shoe of my CCKW in this spring.I have one drum model 42 in rear right side that has not these screws.I think is more easy to manufacture here these screws by a artificer. When I am in help I will let you know.Thanks.

Joel,I found today in a local hardware store two types of allen head socket:
3/8"- 16G- 1 7/32"
5/16"- 24G- 1".
My mechanic will see which is possible to do.
Do you know the numbers of the linings for the shoes?

Those screws are not the correct size or thread count. I can mail you some that are correct size and thread count. 5/16" -18NC. The Diameter of the rear brake drum is 16.00. Factory specification of the New Drum is 16.0075"-15.9974", Regrinding limit is 0.125"
Rear Brake Shoe Lining Size is 16" X 3" and are 1/4" Thick when new. The Linings are all the same length (18 5/32").
I do not have the Rivet Size at this time. There are 15 Rivets per each rear lining.
GM Part Number for the lining Set is GM-605380.

That tells me that the Links that anchor the bottom of the shoes are not free to move. A little Lubriplate 110 or 630AA Grease on the pins will help.

And Lubriplate is what the industry used when installing brake hardware back then.
A little trivia, (Lubriplate 110 is what was in the kit stored in the M-1 Garand Stock).
