throw it on evilbay, no reserve,, that will separate the men from the boys, although, evilbay is awful now,, the shill bidding is at its highest!! or put a 8000 reserve,, see what it fetches, once again, the shill bidding(when a buddy bids up your stuff, or a "0" feedback suddenly appears??most likely) will happen. If anything you get a global exposure, and your on the east coast, easy transport to Europe!!! advertising for $50-75, for global exposure is pretty good,, plus most stuff is sold off line. ending the auction early.

I spent more money just changing my nice restored SWB CCKW back from Open Cab to Closed Cab two years ago than Bill is asking for this nice truck, and when it was all done, I was a few hundred dollars under what I expected to invest.

M-49 is the ring itself. M-32 is the mounting that the ring bolts to and only fits the SWB hard cab. Different than the M-36 used with the soft cab LWB truck which is the most common.

Jeff if it was your truck and you were selling it where would you price it at?
What would you have priced the M-2-4 at now and when times were better?
We all wear both sets of shoes buyer and seller at different times and it seems there are differences in values between the eyes of the owner and the eyes of the person that is trying to chip away at the value set by the seller.
I think without seeing the under hood and under carriage and driving the truck it would be hard for me to say if it is worth what Bill is asking for it.
If he truck is complete with a solid drive train, plumbing and electrical sysyems then I would say it is worth what Bill is asking to a person looking for a closed cab CCKW that can be driven to events while doing a frame on restoration.
IMHO.

I find it hard to price something when the time comes to sell it. I tend to have it way overpriced or way underpriced.

I have seen a couple of open cab trucks in a little better shape sell for between 6 and 7k lately so I think this one would get offers anywhere from 5500 to 7000 or thereabouts. After further review I do think the opening in the cab is a drawback without having the corresponding correct mounts, but having said that I can imagine trucks like this did exist (opening in roof but no mount) in theater at the time. The market seems really down on some items and up on others. Unfortunately I'd say the big trucks are one of the downward trending items at this time.

Big trucks usually take some time to sell so hang in there.

This truck may "run" but i wouldn't run it very far thats for sure. Looks a bit rough. Long over due a restoration. Most likely not just cosmetic either. Sure it has potential. About $10-$15 grand down the road it will be a very very nice truck. And i have kicked a few tires, . I have also got 90wt and axle grease nearly permenatly under my skin. I have had to do my own work over the years. Enjoyed it too. Especialy after it was complete.

The seller said it "runs good", and has been owned and maintained CCKW's longer than many of the critics that are responding.

Ive seen lots of trucks like this one. Get them home and they begin looking alot worse. Sure they will go around the block and back. But then you start looking at the brakes . Then the wheel bearings, master cylinder. Then the radiator, the water pump, fuel pump, carb . Next thing you know you got the body clean off the frame. Holy crap 10 15 grand and two years later you got something. With no regrets either.Been there done that. Heck still doing it. Got one in my back yard i brought home in just about the same shape as this one.
I do wish it was a closed cab though.

Best to have a personal inspection. Having bought and sold vehicles running and not running over the years, a close inspection is a must.
A phone call to the owner can tell you quite a lot, wit the right questions.
Heck, like I said, I would buy this if I had the space and funds. It is only 6 or so hours from me!
