The SWB closed cab ring mount didn't mount on the cab, but instead cantilevered above it. The mount was, from my recollection only used on SWB closed cab trucks, as the open cabs used the regular mount and the hard cab LWB trucks had their own which was different because of the spare tire mounting. It can be very tough to find on the loose.
Not that its not a nice truck, because I think it has great potential, just hard to see dropping that kind of cash on a running project truck in this economy.

The best trucks are the European Returns, Bill's is typical of these trucks as most are Gov't Rebuilds that have mixed parts with little of the original sheetmetal. CCKW's are not for tire kickers, if one wants to run with the big boys one has to be willing to shell out. My prediction is that there will be some who wished they had bought this truck after it has been sold. There are excellent MV shops that restore these into beauties.

Hi List,
Thanks for both the positive and negative feedback. From some comments I've received from this list and emails concerning this truck it seems it is overpriced in this economy and is de-valued because of not having the complete ring mount setup. My question is why is a cckw picked apart because it does not have the ring mount setup? I did not think cckw's must have ring mounts. This list seems to have a lot of lookers who basically want something for next to nothing!

You have a nice truck, some of the restored trucks that are featured in recent CCKW publications had a lot shabbier start than the truck you are offering. SWB makes it special. Many of the trucks are missing the mounts. The fun is in the round up of parts.

To be clear, the truck doesn't need a ring mount. But, only trucks with mounts had the opening in the cab roof, so to be complete you would need the ring mount. I've noticed that it seems to be tough right now selling any MV. Look at the fantastic vehicles for sale on the G right now that haven't sold. I've owned and sold vehicles from a Harley to a GMC and I can tell you that MV enthusiasts can have very short arms and very deep pockets. If you haven't already, consider selling in other venues like Antique truck magazines, re-enactor websites and even Hemmings where the additional exposure can help move a good vehicle like this at the price you want. I also should plug David Uhrig since I've used his service and had fantastic experiences. Good luck and I hope for the best.

The last truck I saw like this with the M36 setup was for sale for 13,500 or thereabouts and was an unrestored runner in about the same shape as this one.

So anyone who is expecting to get a truck like this for 7 or 8k with the M36 gun mount is really looking for a good deal, probably too good to find. These trucks were selling for 4-5k in 1994 so this price is not out of line AT ALL, imho.

i dont think it has the complete mount,, ring and all, just the HOLE, in the roof.. more pics are needed,, my friend sold his for $5000,, and it had the ring, and trolly, and dummy .50. HEY, like i posted, , if two parties come to an agreement.. its a good deal.. love to see more pics,, floors, door bottoms, ring hole, data plates, bed,, etc

3,000.00 EUR = 3,708.78 USD I'd pay $3708.78 for it....-that's be cheap..

"I did not think cckw's must have ring mounts."
to answer this question, you have a BIG hole in the ROOF of your cab, which is suppose to have a RING mount, that would cost about 2500-3500 worth of goods to fill it properly, and correctly.- if you could find the proper mounts.

"This list seems to have a lot of lookers who basically want something for next to nothing!"

we are not lookers, but interested in what you have, getting defensive on a public foreum, inwhich you asked for feedback.. wont help your cause.. post more pics!!

Posting a truck for sale in this economy and then reposting 5 days later, to why it has NOT sold yet, does fascinate me, though. i'm out...off to hammer on something.
if it had all the gun mounts, i'd be in.. jc

Been at this business a long time, those who have the money will offer less comment, the tire kicking seems to follow along with customers that have little money. It is human nature.

My family started in the automobile and truck equipment business at the end of WWII with me tagging along, seen all about every type customer there is to see over the years. The dealers compared notes during bull sessions, and the types of customers berween them fit similar patterns. Not geared toward any one special, just commenting on human nature.

And if that's aimed at me, Well I got my first MV in 1986 (that's 23 years in people years) so I've been around a while for somebody just turned 40(just haven't been on the G until recently). I also have the money, I just like to see a little more for it than I'm seeing with this truck at that price. Like somebody else said, If he wouldn't have asked I wouldn't have opined.

Well anyway Bill,
You have a 5 digit serial numbered truck, still in it's original configuration with a relativly rare and desireable "hole" in the cab roof.
Give it time it 'll sell.
besides all this chatter is keeping the post near the top
