Early Blackout Switch mounting?

A buddy and I are putting together a 1942 WC51. Came pretty complete, but a lot of details are…

There is no hole (never was) to the right of the dash switch for a blackout switch. We've concluded that it should have the early type blackout, mounted above the left headlight. Currently has the later style mounted on the fender with the long left brush guard. We can get the brush guards and bracket, and already have the blackout light. The holdup is in the switch. Where would the field kit be installed? Was it drilled into the dash, or on a bracket below the dash? What did it look like?

How early a 42? By October they were standardized to the fender...
