SparkPlug Speedometer questions

Post by Ben Hovis » Fri Mar 02, 2018 5:50 pm

I have this Spark Plug Speedometer that was in my 42 jeep. I am not sure if it still works. I did run it with a 18 volt drill (on lowest setting rpm) and it went to 20 mph without any hesitation. Two questions, how much are they worth and it there a better way to test it? My understanding is they were used in Chevy Cargo and GMC CCKW, DUKW trucks? Is that correct?
Would appreciate any information.
Thanks,
Ben

Your Speedometer is an early AC, it was manufactured by AC SPARKPLUG. It was OEM to G-508 CCKW and G-506 Chevrolet.(OEM to Other WWII also.) If it runs smooth with no bouncing needle thru the complete range you could get $150.00, or more depending on how the fish are biting.
They went to a shorter counterbalance on the needle during 43. The shorter counterbalance end was black.
