Spring Specifications for the G506/K43

Post by 33rdsignal » Mon Nov 20, 2017 7:01 am

Does anyone have specifications on how much "Spring" should be in a set of springs? I have a K43 and they have the heavier duty springs and they seem kind of flat. I have a spring shop near by but was hoping to go armed with info.

Hi Chad,

A few years back I contacted Eaton-Detroit Springs https://www.eatondetroitspring.com/about having springs made for my truck. After the customary "we sell springs for your '42 Chevy 1-1/2 ton truck", to which I replied, but these are NOT your run of the mill Chevy truck springs. They were skeptical at first, but once I gave them a part number (my truck has a front mounted winch, and thus has the heavy duty spring pack in front), they were able to give me a quote for new made springs. They were a supplier back in WW2, and were able to come up with fabrication drawings. I ended up not needing them, but would suggest that you contact them. They may be able to provide you the arch information you need to determine if yours are "flat". They should be able to give you "eye to eye" dimensions to compare to your springs. If so, you can have that discussion of re-arching (and shipping both ways) versus new made. You didn't indicate front or rear, but your partnumbers for a model NS truck would be:

front - CV-3662297
rear - CV-3662741
