Thougth I would jump on and just share a project I am posting up over on SteelSoldiers.

1941 GMC K-18 serial #035. Papabear over there purchased this unit and delivered to my house March 26th in this condition. Lots to get done on it yet. Hope you enjoy seeing a piece of our history as well as I have thoroughly enjoyed working on it till its complete.

Thanks 42 - I have all the back window glass rebuilt and in frames - just waiting on the felt seals to show up to reinstall all the parts. Getting the cab door glass cut now and rebuilding their frames. Oak tongue and goove flooring going back in it as well. Just lots to do. Try to keep you posted up on pictures. Tinwoodsman posted something up here about the truck but I cannot find the link ?

[Box of window seals came in last night - I aleady had made the metal channels - regulators are all rebuilt so I assembled one just to play with how everything is going to fit. Will jump back on the windows tonight and cab two glass windows are getting cut today. Pretty cool seeing all the reflection in new glass instead of smashed out windows by punk kids thashing rocks in to them. That was and still is some pretty tough glass to be breaking./b]

Oak flooring will be at the house tonight - In 1941 the widest cut possible in tongue and groove was 4 inches. Every other board then got screwed down and that is exactly the broken off flooring screws appear as well on the cross members. We are using 1 1/4 x 12 oak flooring tongue and groove and then it will be sanded and a product called Floor Restore placed on it - Yes I am a heathen and going to use a clear flooring sealer on it - it is epoxy and will be tough as diamonds.

The PTO & pto driven generator are MIA - probably long gone years ago.

I have the roof to get into final paint tonight - the rest was shot last night. Yes I painted over the glass to make sure the replacement box glass seals all looked uniform - anyone thats ever been around a body shop razor blade will tell ya how quick it will come off the glass.

The cab door window run channel arrived yesterday and I had all the parts ready for installation - so that was first on the list after getting the required stenciles to the hood.

I have the drivers side door to assemble tonight and get onto blasting the differential - under frame and underside of the frame lip - the top sides are all done. This will all go into 2K bare metal primer and then shot with the TM ordinance #8 paint so I can get the flooring in. Flooring is all on hand and beconning to be installed. Once installed the underside of this flooring will be shot with a rubberized undercoating industrial use for semi trailers - this sealing the boards and protecting it.

Here are some upated pics for ya all - Yes the 3rd Army insignia in a three section stencile were shot Wed.

You seem to be making good progress painting with this weather. Your rate of production is impressive.

How many of these trucks were produced, and is this a model that predates the 4wd version?

Very nice looking truck. Did it come with the grill guard or is that a piece that you will be trying to source ? I would think those are elusive to find as are those grill guards for the VC Dodge trucks.

This is a one man show and I do all this work myself - the only parts sent out now are the fuel cell for cleaning and epoxy coating and the radiaor for pressure test and cleaning. Here is what I got done over the weekend - flooring will start to get epoxy coated with a product called Floor Restore.

For the brush guard that is like the one on the Life Magazine cover - I will be fabricating this when the time comes. Had to get the wife's M38A1 out so she could play with it. First time the K-18 moved since delivered 60 days ago yesterday.
