Lock out hubs needed for 1/2 ton Dodge

Post by Gary Turman » Thu Jan 16, 2014 7:19 pm

I have a 1941 Dodge 1/2 ton Command Car. I am in need of a set of lock out hubs. I am preparing for a long road trip with it. I do have an extra set of original hubs that I was thinking about drilling out but I think there might be complications with the center bolt that goes through the hub and screws in the center of the axle shaft. Any ideas?...thanks

not a big deal. this has been discussed about a million times on the dodge forum, just drill it and plug it with a freez plug you can even add a grease zerk.

works fine.

On my WC-1 half ton I used to own, I found a set of modified stock hubs that had the splines machined out of them. There also was a standard sealed ball bearing pressed into the end of the hub and a bolt went through it into the end of the half shaft to allow it to free wheel. I don't know what the bearing number was, maybe a 6201?

Thanks for the help guys and thanks Kevin for the offer of the lock out hubs. That is a good price but since I already have the extra original hubs I'm going to try them first now that I have info on how to install them.

I am not familiar with this hub mod, can someone explain? I'm interested in a set also. Do you have a pic?
