Driver side front brake cylinder

Post by M38CDNBill » Sat Nov 04, 2017 5:34 pm

Hi,

Question, for my Chevy G7107 I bought a new Raybestos front brake cylinder for the driver side and the part number is WC3406. It's the same of the old one except the hole where the hose fitting is screwed. On the original brake cylinder, the hole has a little angle as we can see on the picture below and on mine, the hole has no angle. What is the good part number for the correct new (Raybestos or another manufacturer) brake cylinder?

You can make a straight one fit with a tiny bit of grinding, but the angled one is correct. Don't know the part #. They are specific to the Banjo axle. I always save the rusted ones because they can be sleeved.

Is WC 3406 the correct part number for the rear wheels? Regards.

No, that number is the size of the front cylinders. The rear are larger.

Guy,

The front cylinders are being reproduced, but to my knowledge they are not available via conventional part houses. There is an HMV vender selling on ebay that lists them. Search for "CCKW wheel cylinder". You'll see that front and rears are available. Would not suggest the rears, as they are available via other channels for much less.

Hi Kirk,

For the passenger side, it's possible to fit the WC3406 but not on the driver side. I finaly found a NOS front wheel cylinder from Frank Von Rosenstiel in Ontario. I'm waiting in the spring to finish the job and as long as I'm there, I'll take the opportunity to change the seals of the knuckle.

Where do you find the knuckle seals?
