Look at this pic of the Autocar we are discuss in the above post . I believe this confirms the hood number you reference.

Rob.
If your frame is stamped M32976 with no dash after the 3 than it is a Diamond T. We have found very few Diamond Ts with hood numbers and data plates so there is a lot unknown. Let me know if yours is a roller or winch model and if you can your engine number.

Rob,
OK I have not had my second cup of joe yet but I think this works.
M32796 the 2,796th M3 built by Diamond T would have had a ordnance number of 6524 and a hood number of 4045961.
I have added it to the sticky at the top of this thread.
Thanks

Hi Kevin , It has a roller. What formula do you use to come up with the hood #?... Thanks for your help, Rob

After sometime lurking here and at halftrack info, picking up lots of spare parts etc I finally took possession of an M2A1 over this Independence weekend. The data plate serial number is 233116 and it says Converted from M2 by Bowen and McLaughin and lists an ORD # as 3814. The serial is stamped on the frame under the driverside wheel well matching the data plate 233116. I bought this out of SC and it may have been known to you guys or maybe not. Any info or hood number on it?
After trying for 10 minutes I have given up on uploading a picture.

KCB,
Would like to see a photo of the Bowen data plate if possible. I presume it was converted to M2A1 and was a winch model? Can you confirm this?
I added it to the list and noted I have 233126 shown in Kansas.
Kevin
Oh yeah using the key number for this PO your hood number would be 4014012.

Kevin,
Yes, it's a winch model and yes converted from M2 to M2A1. No date on the conversion on plate and It's telling me both the overall picture of the track and the pictures of just the data plate are too big to upload. Do you have an email address I can send it to or a truck?
Thanks,
Kyle

M16 MGMC S/N 294619 Update:
Heres a pic as of a few days ago, just a few more minor things to finish off and she's finished!

Kevin, I checked all over her and could not find anymore numbers, and unfortunately it never came with the original data plate. I believe the previous owner determined this track to be a January of '44? As far as the reg #, I do believe that it is the Korean war reg #, as it was the number the original owner got off the hood when he bought her in the early 90's. I will try to post pics of this later!

Matt,
That is a fantastic looking track. Your Hood # definitely falls in line with other M16s. If the hood number is correct than a mathematical formula indicates a ordnance number of 2279. The frame number should be 283xxx and located on the left frame rail above the front axle tube.
Kevin
Let me know if you can find that.

Kevin,
Thank You! It has been a long year and a half getting everything together, but it has been worth it! We hope to bring our M16 and our close friends M16A2 out to the convention next year :D

As far as numbers, I was only able to find the frame serial number, and it did not match up with the number you gave me, it is 294619... I cannot get the picture to upload for some reason, however I will try to post one here in a bit.

Thanks!

Matt,
Please post pic if you can. If your frame number is indeed that high, and without a data plate, than it would seem the hood could have been from another vehicle. Very few vehicles from this last batch of M16s have been documented. That makes any definite correlation difficult.
I certainly hope your M16 and the M16A2 can make Louuisville.

M15a1-1142 currently located in Tennessee. No hood # or data plate.
M16 serial #283716 will be located in Tennessee after pickup. No hood #. There is a rusty data plate that I will try to recover but numbers are almost illegible. It was never rebuilt.
