Hello,

Here are some pics of the angle brackets welded to the rear axle assembly and rear frame cross member.
Look like they were well attached, but heavy duty for something.

The last pic, is the rear part of frame, and the remnants (2) are the same on both sides or rear frame cross member.

Best Regards,

Ray

Hello,

Here is a great video of an "M-16 B " in action. ( Ex M-2 )
Appears to have pedestal lights on radiator, and early front rims, can't make out the hood number.

Hi more than likely the stuff on the back was welded on post service looks like a draw bar
Here many were converted to farm tractors in the hills they were used a log skids in the timber
If your hood was replaced during a rebuild it would have been painted with the right hood number.
I believe that is why you sometimes see it stamped in the frame if they were rebuilding several at a time on an assembly line
What better way to insure the hood number matched the right frame? Everything else's would have been stripped cleaned and repainted.

Hello,

As far as I can tell it appears that this track was never rebuilt under any formal rebuild contract.
No bumper stampings at its patina looks so old and such.
I will try to find out more of its history.

Do you have any pics of what mounts on a frame might have looked like in a field conversion to hold a quad 50 ?
Or would it have just bolted onto a piece of plate steel on the rear deck floor assembly ?
I remember my neighbor telling me that in England he welded the big plates on the side of Sherman tanks as added on armor.
He also said the tanks when landing had very little fuel in their tanks.
He drove a Diamond T wrecker from Normandy to Germany .

Nice save Clint,

Great finds !!!!!

You beat me back to the honey hole :D :D :D
Please post more pics of the track when you get a chance !
There were a lot of nice parts, armor, and Halftracks there from that seller !!

One of them was a return from Europe that had the Marshall Plan logo painted on it..

Strangely, that Diamond T you got, has the next sequential hood number to the M-2 that is listed above.
... US Army 4051204

I am waiting to hear more back from the seller about the origins of where these tracks came from before ending up in Florida.
The Diamond T he said was used a a school bus, somewhere, possibly NY, to get kids through the snow.

Mean while I will try to get the M-2 started up, just waiting on some small items from Gary :D :D :D :

Please let me know if you find the M-2, or M-2A1 dash data plate missing on mine, I would be greatly interested :D

Best Regards,

Ray

Thanks Clint.

I appreciate that ! Sounds great !
There was a ton of stuff, well I should say many tons of stuff there !
I have to give credit to the owner for finding all these tracks and parts, and saving it all these many years,
towards the goal of getting these tracks restored someday !!
I hope I can get the M-2 running !

Best Regards,

Ray

Newly in Czech Republic (not mine) is M3 converted to M16A1. Frame number M3-6453 13,7 mm high, so we think it is Autocar. Unfortunately no data plates. No US markings or hood numbers, there is marking of French Foreign Legion and hood number 815994 (also on front bumper) on the first layer of color. Pedestal lights, there was roller, but now is cut out.

There was hood number found (many thanks to this forum) on the remains of the front bumper stamped for M3-6453. It is 4019512, but hood number is not painted to hood, there is only layer with French number.
