M2 High Speed Tractor carb info

Post by pvtcook » Mon Jul 31, 2017 2:14 pm

I've got a friend that's restoring a M2. He's needing a Tillotson YX3A carb or a carb kit. Does anybody know off a source for these? Any help will be appreciated.

Have you tried your local parts store like NAPA,may be the same as many farm tractors,You have to get them to look in the farm and industrial catalogs.

Yeah Jeff I think he has. He found out that a Chevrolet distributor cap and button fit it. But no luck on the carb.

That carb is a very hard one to find. I looked for about 3 years finally found one on eBay. I will keep a lookout for you one.

I have not bought a carb. kit for these old carbs, Make your own carb. kit, Sharp knife and a leather hole punch will make your gasket, clean up the check valves make sure they work, needle and seat has to seat, float has to float.

I found a place in Missouri that makes a kit for the carb. But they want $650 for it. Includes everything but the float. The guy that has the M2 is a retired veteran and he can't afford that. So im not sure what he is going to do.

Two of my WXLC3's came with a cast iron Stromberg and a Zenith - both bolted on and were in use at one time - I have one Tillotsen and it's pretty wounded inside (accelerator pump bore is shot and some of the smaller springs are seized or broken)

That said I am continuing to keep an eye out as I want to run the correct carb in the end...

I have tried to get numbers off the two replacement carbs but nothing seems to line up for the carb guys to look up...

Tillotsen's restoration shop pretty much said they didn't even have drawings for that carb any longer and good luck...

Matt. I put a zenith carb. off my 5 ton IH tractor, on to my m2 engine but it would not crank. The bolt hole,s did not line up like they should, but used smaller bolts. I had to keep rebuilding the tillostsen carb, like three time unitl it would crank and run. If, you will post a picture of my m2 engine. We going to move the m2 over to my nephew to start blast of the rust and make it look like new. :D fun fun vj
I have got four running halftracks, plus 5 ton ww2 semi-truck,1943 willys jeep and other ww2 vehicles, plus a lot of parts to trade on. Wendell in Tn.

Hi Steve - do you still have the large green Zenith Updraft shown in the pic below?

If you have mounting stud centerline and throat diameters on it I might be interested

Thanks

Matt
