G503 Military Vehicle Message Forums

Just joined the group.....thought I would share some pix of my newly restored Allis Chalmers M4 High Speed Gun Tractor with you ......4 years in resto ...restored by myself and the mucho top class restorer Jason Jefferies....she is marked up as 660th Field artillery , 1st Army.....soon to have her wartime name 'Connecticut Special' across the top panel.....all taken from a wartime photo !

Here is another photo of my newly restored M4 HST at her first show .....Weymouth Veterans Festival / Armour & Embarkation in Dorset , UK in June . This was her first time on the road since being 'zero houred' by the Austrian Army in 1953 . She had only done 44 miles since then .....but needed a full re-build all the same . She has an original powerplant....a Waukesha 145 petrol engine ....and is totally original throughout . We have done everything on her .....every nut , bolt and washer . Very pleased with the results . Big thanks to Jason Jefferies , Allied Forces Canvas , Jobbers Inc , Bristol Stainless exhausts , SP Engineering and many more besides.....not forgetting my bank manager .....and the wife

Thanks Brian.....yeah , I took lots of very detailed photos of the restoration as we went along . I will post some shortly Here is a shot of it 4.5 years ago , on the day I took delivery....

WOW nice restoration!! more pics please..

Struggling to re-size photos from my camera at the mo....says the files are too big !.....so for now ......another piccy....here she is on the back of Jason Jefferies Diamond T and Rogers Trailer at Armour & Embarkation in Dorset , England in June . We were on a road run and this whole package looked fab ..... The next day , I drove it 20 miles down to Weymouth.....flat out....with no issues at all .....just had to open the transmission vents halfway down ( cos I forgot to open them before I left ....doh !!)....and tighten up a few track links when we got there . Well, it had been 60 years since they were last driven on the road .

did you find any cool markings? names?

Over the last 4 years of owning the M4 HST , I have amassed quite a few wartime pix of them 'in the field' so to speak . We looked at a lot of them when considering markings .....and went for an M4 called 'Connecticut Special' .....of 1st Army - 660th Field Artillery . I just tried to upload the photo ....but it says the file is too big !
