ONe of the finest armor museums in the world is in Florence. It's a couple of blocks from the train station. It is the world's most complete collection of personal armor from the Stone Age of China through Medieval Europe. The dining hall of the this castle sports an entire squad of mounted armor. The horses are as close to motorized in this museum as it gets. It's a must see in Florence.
Another must see: the Museum of Pietra Dura.

I went to see that museum. Was a rich guy who built a small castel type of building and collected back in the 1860s. Died in 1904. Cant find the brochure, think his name was Siberts. What an amazing collection of old military paintings, armor, arms, art and most not in display cases. Had to go on the tour with a museum "guard" due to this. Sadly no photos allowed.
Thanks for the tip
All the WWII museums are mainly in Rome.

Yup, that's the museum Hinrik. The guard: I was asked to leave after touching the displays. What can I say? I'm a hands-on kind of guy. If I wasn't, I would be watching old war movies instead of restoring their hardware. Oh well.
