Hydraulics 101.. Questions.

Postby wc56daveyboy » Mon Jan 16, 2012 6:15 pm

Looks like the previuos owner replaced all of the upper hydrualic hoses to the blade pistons.. they look pretty new and fresh.

However, the same cannot be said for the lower H.P. hoses ( parts manual numbers 48718 and 48687, High pressure assemblies)

These are about 2" diameter hoses.

My question: Should I go ahead and break the connections to have new ones made, is there some procedure, or operation to "purge" the system, once the new hoses are installed?

Is there anything to be careful of, other than expect an oil "bath" for myself!!

I guess I need to drain the oil tank resevoir first. Is there a lower drain plug?

Sorrry, trying to find my way around the manual but it aint all that easy.

With the engine off...... Move the control lever..... That will relive any high pressure lift in the cylinders. Crack the line and have a bucket or large drip pan ready. Unscrew lines and cap ends to clean.
Replace new hose...... Make sure all connections are tight and hooked up correctly. Add about how much fluid lost in hose change to hydraulic reservoir. Start up..... cycle through the motions of that circuit and recheck hydraulic fluid level.

Quite simple. Yes prepare your self to get your hand oily. Any yes you probably will spill some oil.

Cant say I have ever changed a Hose that was not broken to begin with. Normal when that happen there is oil every where!
