M1919 tripod brackets

Post by M215 » Thu Apr 07, 2016 4:47 pm

Hello All,
I'm in search of two sets of M1919 .30cal tripod brackets for our M2A1 halftrack. These are the brackets that mount on the rear steps of the M2 / M2A1 halftrack, (1-LH set & 1-RH set, we need all four pieces). The brackets for the M1919 are different than the ones used for the M1917 water cooled tripods.
Thank you, Karl

I am also looking for a set of tripod brackets for a M2A1. I don't have any of the brackets, and would like to find a set, repro would be fine, as I know they are very hard to find. Hoping someone reproduces these some day. I need all four brackets. Thanks, John Engelke.

Al Stifel of california made these back in the day. I don't know how to reach him but maybe some one els knows how.

AL is no longer in business. The person who has taken over is to busy with other things to make any new stuff. I've been trying to get him to make more gun sockets for the M2A1 but has no time to do so. I do have detailed drawings of one of the brackets but will need Tim's or Michael France's help with measurements of the other using Tim's halftrack. By the way, the source for BMG's sockets was from Al also.

If anyone decides to reproduce these, I would purchase a set. I need all the brackets for my M2A1. Not sure what the .50 had, but i'm sure I need that one too. Thanks in advance. John

The 50 used 4 thick metal pre-shaped "straps" that have a buckle sort of clamp on the left and right lower sections, and two sections with a square ring on the upper "strap" these hinged on 4 footman loops creating a "strap" to hold the 50 try pod at the each end half way up the rear armor. Each section had (I think) a piece leather riveted to the thick metal "strap" where it bent around the try pod. See image... http://www.o5m6.de/M2%20Rear_small.jpg

Hey, I noticed you have a M10 ammunition trailer. Wouldn't happen to have any extra parts for one do you. I am missing the landing leg/s, box, etc. I only have the tongue with pintle, and hand brakes on the front. Everything else is gone and would like to restore it someday....I think these trailers are a perfect fit for a halftrack...
Thanks, John Engelke.
