Halftrack Tire Pressure

Postby steve1973 » Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:06 pm

I'm getting ready for a car show tomorrow and have a low tire. I don't recall what tire pressure I originally used. :( Tire says 90 to 100 psi max. This seems to be a bit high to me so I am asking you what pressure should I use. Thanks in advance.

Steve,
You could probably get by with 75 but I think the tires 90-100 would be correct.

In accordance with TM 9-710-A, Page 64, dated Sept. 16 1943, states "Inflate to 50 pounds when standard mud and snow grip tires and bullet sealing tubes are used. Inflate to 55 pounds when combat type tires and standard heavy duty tubes are used."

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead with 75 psi with that I found a leak on the passenger side. :( Seemed to work fine for the trip to the show.

Steve,
I should have asked are you running original tires or have they been replaced. The tire manufacturer would be the best source for inflation specs so be careful using the manuals for a modern tire. Although for off road use it is not uncommon to drastically lower tire pressure to increase traction and reduce the chance of puncture. For higher speeds and easier steering higher inflation is required other wise you could roll a tire off the rim.

Tires are new. Installed them last year. Thanks for the help.
