Motorcycles, Scooters, Bicycles to be Featured at Camp Petaluma in CA April 2018

Post by John Neuenburg » Sat Dec 09, 2017 1:29 pm

Military motorcycles, scooters, and bicycles will be a feature at the Camp Petaluma West Coast Military Vehicle Gathering & Swap Meet, the largest annual MV event in the Western U.S. Info is on the EVENTS forum and the ad below. A similar grayscale ad will be in the next Military Vehicles Magazine:

Not sure which day for this. Might be Thursday and again on Saturday, three hours each. At the end we'll parade the campground with whatever runs. I am the point-of-contact and would like to know who is bringing what so I can plan enough space. Please email me. Anyone wanting to deliver a machine and come back another day is welcome to leave it at my cabin where we will watch it.

Thanks for sharing. I think my work takes me there at this time. Maybe I will be able to go... Thanks again.

We will have an Indian 741 versus 640 display, and WLA versus 640, and other things.

Here is a recent print ad and it shows the 2018 art for the back of the commemorative T-shirts. The front will have a breast logo with the event name and a jeep. There are some 2017 shirts available too, with the art shown on the original post. Tan and olive drab. All are $20 each. Shirts will be for sale at the MVCC headquarters table near the Rec Center or can be pre-ordered from the MVCC Secretary. Contact him at istanbull@sbcglobal.net

Maybe it's time for a San Francisco vacation! Check a bicycle as baggage. There is regular Airporter bus service from SFO and OAK to Petaluma! (Good reason to have a BSA folder... 😎)

Actually we spent a couple of days in SF last August... was our final destination before flying back home after a 2,5K mile roadtrip... was our third time in the bay area, had a great time! Beautiful city!

If it helps, I can tell you for a fact that back in the days of 70lb suit cases x2ea, a certain Dutch Friend of mine used wrap Welbike's he found here in the states in Cardboard and check them as one of his "bags".... They weight about 69lbs wrapped, with a rope handle tied to the frame and sticking out the top.
Maybe you can copy the "Dutch luggage in action" model?? :D :D

BSA folding bicycles are pretty handy for travelers. Once I put mine in my car trunk on a sales trip to Fresno, and on the way home Friday I stopped at the warbird-oriented Madera Air Show to join the military vehicle display. Rode around in an old uniform.

I will bring my three to Camp Petaluma - a common late one, an early one (double seat post tubes), and a very early one with different hinges and handlebar T-nut. First two have some incorrect parts though - a rear wheel, seats, wrong pedals and arms on one, need a few War Grade tires too....

Lots of new details about the meet are up on www.MVCCNews.net in the event calendar area. Very important info for day visitors about the offsite parking and how to get to the campground.

If you are curious about the event but didn't attend the first one in Petaluma last year, come this year because we are moving the meet for April 2019.
