WLA engine sprocket

Hi all, can some please enplain why the early WLA had a 33 tooth sprocket (engine side) and the later ones had 31 tooth sprocket, what would the performance difference be? Thanks James

All 31 tooth engine sprockets are the original Harley factory set up, the 33's are a new made sprockets to get more speed out of the old girls.

45 motors used in military service 1935-1940 had 33 tooth motor sprockets. They also had 16 tooth transmission sprockets instead of the 17 tooth transmission sprockets found on 1941 & later 45 models.

Thank you for the responses. 1st Cavreg what would the difference be in ride-ability with a 33 tooth sprocket, I was under the impression that the earlier WLA were quicker?
