Grease Guns from Hershey

Post by 42swing » Thu Oct 06, 2016 8:04 am

We made our annual pilgrimage to the Hershey Show and Swap Meet yesterday. There is a major tool vendor there each year who always has things of interest, found the final two chisels/punches I needed for my GMTK last year. This year the score was two Lincoln Grease Guns at the bottom of a box of guns. Both appear the same as the one pictured on the Liberator site. The grease reservoirs are identical, both have the open slots at the bottom, both marked LINCOLN and LUBRIGUN on the top fitting. The only difference is the length of the barrel that fits on the fitting; one is 7.5 inches long, the other 6.0 inches long. At $6.00 apiece, I couldn't go wrong so picked up both of them. One will replace the placeholder I have now with the ring charger.

Which one is correct for a Type 5 WLA tool kit? or does the barrel length matter? The shorter length seems to match the drawings a little more closely, but the longer one looks more like the photos.

I suspect they'll both fit, but would be good to know.

Any word on the replica holsters you were looking into?

Cleaning the Lubriguns up some more markings appeared:

On the one with the shorter barrel - = MODEL 5911 = on the reservoir about 2/3 of the way from the top, and on the bottom plate - LINCOLN ENGINEERING CO., St Louis (in small type) opposite Made in U.S.A. (in small type)

On the one with the longer barrel - No markings on the reservoir, on the bottom plate - LINCOLN ST LOUIS opposite MADE IN U.S.A. all large type

The barrels are interchangeable simply screwing apart
