WTT or WTS 1910/12 Harley

Post by Cyclefreak13 » Tue Apr 19, 2016 5:34 am

Hi all,

I just thought I would put this out and see if I could get into a military bike. I have a 1910/12 Harley belt drive battery model I would like to trade for a WLA with a title (project condition ok). I would also be willing to sell it for $13k or best reasonable offer. Oh it might help to know this bike is in Cary, North Carolina.

A little about the bike. I call it a 1910/12 because it is a new made 1910 chassis with original 1912 engine cases, timing gear cover, and crank shaft. The engine cases have matching belly numbers and started life as a pair. The chassis was made by Timeless Motors (think MD Juan, but made in Texas). The chassis is a nut and bolt copy of the original 1910 with the exception of using modern sealed bearings in the pedal crank and wheel hubs. The Klaxon is an original made by EA. The lights are original carbide lights from the early 1910s. I have managed to fit bicycle LED lights in both, so they do have the ability to flash as well as be solid and are brighter. The engine has a connecting rod kit from Competition Distributing out of South Dakota and a piston and cylinder from Timeless Motors. The bike runs and rides, but let me tell you it is one of the most involved motorcycles I have ever ridden. Left hand belt tension, left hand ignition advance, right hand throttle, right hand carb adjust, and a bicycle style coaster brake on the rear only. That said it probably only has 15-20 miles on it. I have only ridden it around my neighborhood. Due to the brake and belt drive it is best ridden where you can plan your stops well in advance.

The BAD:
The gas and oil tanks, Timeless decided to make these out of cast aluminum. While they work fine and look ok, my plan has always been to make new ones from sheet steel. Competition Distributing has all the fittings and valves for them. I just never got around to ordering them and building tanks. The right tank (gas) has a crack where the top mount joins the tank, it shows up as a line in the paint. It does not go into the tank itself and is only cosmetic.

So if you are serious and would like to either trade or buy I can provide more detailed pictures.

A quick video of it running.

TopKick,

It has been a lot of fun, everyone that I run into on it loves it. I really enjoyed building it from the ground up, but I would like to get a WLA project, or something similar.

Funny thing TopKick, for a few years when I was young I lived in Olathe.

Well I'm going to list it up on epay and try to get some funds freed up. Then maybe I can find a WLA project.

For those that want to see it run.
