Contact with GPA Spares?

Post by Leigh_J » Tue May 27, 2014 1:51 am

Has anyone heard anything from these guys lately?
I've been trying to get in contact for weeks now regarding purchasing some repair panels for my GPA - sent emails, tried calling, even sent a PM from here on the G and still nothing?

I have emailed Dean many times over the past 3-4 years and have found that he can take weeks, sometimes months to respond. He responded to my last email about 2 weeks ago.

He runs a couple of businesses. I think he could use a secretary or two.

Thanks David, well I hope he responds soon as I am in New Zealand and have a relative over in the UK at the moment (visiting very close to him) that could pick the parts up for me.

How do you guys outside the UK do business with GPA spares, they don't answer emails or the phone?

Hi Leigh,

Dean and his company make great parts, but communications are very poor indeed.
I contact Dean by mail, sometimes get an answer but it can take a very long time to get a response.
Most of the time I get no response...... :?

Too bad, because many GPA owners were helped with his great parts and he could sell many more parts if communications were better.
Good luck.....
Regards,

Leo Verhagen

I'm back in the same rut again too waiting for more parts and getting no answers from repeated emails for months and months.
He needs a secretary!

But... they do very good work at reasonable prices too!

BTW I wish he would add floor panels to his list of parts. I desperately need the large (upper) floorpan.

Well at least I'm not alone.
I'm stuck at the moment as I need a complete set of rub rails for my GPA restoration, Dean says he can make them and from what I've seen (and heard) of his work, he'll do an outstanding job of them.
The problem is I'm on the other side of the world! I've asked him a few times now for an estimate for shipping, but he's never gotten around to it. If only I knew how much it will be to send so I know how much I'm in for, I'm not fortunate enough to have an unlimited budget and will need to organize my finances for this.

I have thought a few times that I'll contract a sheetmetal shop here in NZ to make them for me, but there is no guarantee they will be able to produce them correctly (especially the curved ones around the bow) , I know Dean will make a perfect job of them though.

Leigh,
I have some extra rub rail that I had made for my restoration years ago but these are straight pieces. Not the curved front pieces. How much are you looking for?

Don't shoot the messenger...

Gindi.
Dean did say in our last correspondence that the parts wouldn't be ready for a while as they were working on Jeep parts, that I don't mind at all, its how my GPA parts will get to me in NZ and at what cost that bothers me the most.

Thanks Donovan, well basically I have no rub rails on my GPA at all, so I was going to get the whole lot from Dean (that includes the internal angle/channels). There is some of the internal angles left that I could use as patterns, but all the rub rail has long gone

I saw your post about the curved front bows and straight ones. There are 3 different types. Between the curved bows the material is 2mm thick, the sides are 1.2mm thick and for the rear thickness is 1.5mm. I do these in pieces of 3.5 feet a d 4 feet. I have in stock. You would need 1 x 3.5ft (which goes between the curved part and welding of wheel arch), 1×3.5ft + 1x4ft (which go from front centre wheel arch to rear centre wheel arch) and 1x4ft from rear centre wheel arch to end of side. These quantities you have to multiply by 2 if you need for both sides. And finally you will need 1x3ft x 2mm thickness for the front between curved bows and 2x3.5ftx1.5mm thickness for the back end. Of course there are the left and tight curved bows. Message me if you're interested and let me know what you need. Will be happy to help.

I am owner of GPA430 and this is the link of my photobucket. I did all the restoration work myself. http://s25.photobucket.com/user/gpa430/ ... t=2&page=1

I would love to see some photos of your GPA project. Do you need any other parts or do you have any extras yourself?

Cheers
Stephen
