wanted: screws/bolts headlight bracket GPA

Postby Leo Verhagen » Sun Jun 24, 2012 5:09 am

I'm looking for these srews / bolts for the GPA headlight brackets. I need them for both brackets.
Does anyone have them left over or knows an adress in Europe where I can find them?

Thanks for your reply.

Hi Leo,
Not sure about their availability in Europe but if you can't find them locally McMaster-Carr have them in the US of A. The screw is described as having a 5/16ths UNC thread and they are available either 19mm or 25mm lengths.

You would have to get a friend in the US of A to purchase them as McMaster Carr won't ship overseas unless you are an existing account holder.
Good luck.
Cheers

John and Michael,

Thanks for your replies.
Michael, I hope you can find them for me, if not, maybe you can order them at mcmaster for me?
I can pay you with paypal for it if you want.

I will wait for your reaction.

Leo,

When I looked up the part and looked at what extra parts I had, I remembered that I could not find binding head screws in 5/16" size anywhere. I have looked all over for these and they are are not available (present day version). I ended up substituting script bolts at these locations. It looks like you found them from Cees (from G504) which is great.

On a related topic, the manual says that the floorboards use this same 5/16" binding head screw. However, why we see GPAs with bolts on the floorboards is because I think the mechanics found it too difficult to remove the screws and substituted bolts in an area that is likely to get pulled more frequently than other parts of the GPA. My opinion.

Good luck,

Donovan.

hello all,

those flat head bolts from america are a little too small in diameter, they should be .625 ", not .615 ".
