Capstan crank pulley

Post by Hamhog » Sat Apr 01, 2017 3:04 am

I've got a late '48 CJ2A and I’m looking for a capstan crank pulley with two belt grooves. Thanks for the help.

Dave, sounds like you have a '49 CJ2A if there are no front bumper brackets, thereby using the 3A style bumper because you actually have a 3A style frame....

Look carefully along the top of the frame and determine if it is "strapped", if it isn't then it is a 3A frame, if it is, then your front bumper would have had the bumper gussets, and they are missing.....

ALL 1948 CJ2A's had front bumper gussets....

I can't post pictures here, for some reason. Here's a link to my ad on the 2A page. Thanks.

Rebuilt a few mb motors and one had the two groove with capstan tabs on it. Sent it with the motor but sure he still has it. If interested I will see what he wants for it. Matt

The A-6414 Twin Groove Pulley with the three tabs morphed into the 645623 twin Groove Pulley with tabs that was used on CJ-2A thru CJ-5.It is not hard to find. The rear Groove is narrower than the front.

I have a super clean 645119 Bumper for the CJ3A/CJ-3B, been saving it for myself since early 60's.

The capstan crank pulley didn't have the 3 tabs. That was for pulley for the hydraulic pump. The capstan pulley had 6 holes around the center shaft.

Sorry about that, I mixed it up with the data for the Air Compressor Pulley.
