reupholstering CJ2A seats

I know somebody that reupholsters boats, and cars.
I was going to have her redo the seats on the 2A.
However I am afraid that the original screws that hold the interior on the seat frame will most likely break when I try to remove them.

I was wondering if anybody had recently had there seats redone, and if they were either able to find some screws that closely resemble the factory ones or if they now where reproduction ones can be found

Thanks

I have re-done mine the screws backed right out. They were like a #6 panhead metal screw.

several of the MIL & CIV top suppliers have simalar to original screws and washers for your resto, if you find you need some or all replaced.

I would bet that the cost of having custom covers done will be near the same or more than having Beachwood canvas works sell you a set. They will give you the correct mounting hardware and the covers will be the correct color for your jeep. give them a call.

hey thanks for the replies

I will have to call Beachwood up and see what they charge.

she is not really charging me labor i just have to pay for materials and decide on a color (i think i will go with black). plus the springs have to go since they are all rusted and broken and get replaced with foam

does Beachwood actualy redue the seats with the springs or is it just a foam insert?

Thanks

Kraski,

Another place to contact for replacement seat covers is www.newlifecanvas.com. Mona does a great job and is very reasonable with her prices. She can either do just the covers, or cover-foam-pan combinations. I had her do new covers and cushions for my CJ2A restoration in grey canvas and they are good.

If your springs are in good shape (this is rare), beachwood sells the new padding material that goes over the springs. If like most seats the springs are bad then they sell precut foam pieces to replace all the old junk. They are very comfortable and fit nice. I am very please with my seats. Here is a pic that shows some of my seats. They fit all the original screw holes just right.
