Re: Engine ID.Late CJ2A?Barn find.
That engine is 1950 or 51 vintage.
It is a CJ-2A serial number, but was not factory installed in a vehicle. Willys continued to make CJ-2A "model" engines long after vehicle production, for replacement and commercial/industrial purposes.
June 19 (6-19) machining/assembly date stamp comports with the June 6 (6-6) casting date. The lone "1" may be the year "51", but more info/photos are needed to confirm.
Does it have 2 or 4 freeze plugs on the passenger side? Get a photo showing the entire passenger side of the block.
Get a photo of that data tag riveted on the side, it has some more info.

Good photos Mats, they make it clearer.
That is a 1949 casting, still made as a replacement engine, same configuration as used in CJ-2A from Jan 1947 to end of vehicle production.

Interesting, my '48 CJ2A has an engine number very close to this one, J277264. I've not tried to date it, but now I'm curious.

Re: Engine ID.Late CJ2A?Barn find.
I'd like to follow up on my engine and ask what you guys think. Mine has a serial number very close to the OP's number. Mine is J277264, and has the same casting and date code numbers. This leads me to believe they were both cast on June 19th, 1949 (based on Sean's comments). The serial numbers are only 35 apart, so they could have even been built the same day. But I notice the number stamps look different on each. Could it be that more than one person was stamping them? This motor is in my '48 Cj2A, sn #217528. Does it seem unlikely that this is the original engine? Here are pics of my number and the OP's for comparison. Thanks, Steve

The casting date is June 6th., the machining/assembly date is June 19th.
IMO not original, but replacement engine. June '49 was 6 months after vehicle production ended, and the number is far in excess of other known vehicle/engine matches at the end of production:
S/N engine difference
214349 234571 20222
217296 235894 18598
219719 248748 29029
221743 254733 32990
222564 257903 35339
222638 257376 34738
223007 258789 35782
223009 258788 35779
Your vehicle would be 3rd in this list, with a difference of 59736.
