Alternator plate

Postby Steve Webb » Fri Sep 26, 2003 6:21 pm

I have front engine plate off of my 3a along with original generator bracket. I am going to use the Delco arrangement that Glen touts. Is there another mounting means available that does not require using old bracket.

brackets

Steve, its me again. I put a one wire alternator on my 56 cj-5 with the f head 134. I had alot of trouble with charging,so I just changed everything. I plan on pulling the engine nextweek or so.What I did was use the 3/4"(?) hole that was in the front plate along with the smaller hole below it and just made a bracket that bolted on that way. If you are interested and are not in a hurry, I could give you some dimensions. I used the original adjusting bracket also. Let me know.

Thanks, I am in no hurry. Have you looked at any old posts and seen the method Glen favors. I am keeping starter which was changed to 12 but everything else is new. http://community.webshots.com/photo/497 ... 3244NfiOPx

Steve :D ,We have been doing that idea for years now at the speed shop for guys that want a "No Hassle" alternator for there race car, works great. I did not quite understand the mount, but sounds real similar to mine. It might be a little longer on the diagram, cut my left palm today at work, six stitches and a few hundred dollars later. I will get back ASAP.
