Side Panel Piece Needed MBT

Post by Raflad » Sun Feb 25, 2018 9:10 pm

Hi everyone:

I'm looking for a piece of the side panel from an MBT with the indent in it. If you look at the photo mine was cut to accommodate the exhaust pipe from a generator that was mounted in the trailer. The hole size is about 2", so all I would need is a piece around 4" x 4" that includes the indent. Obviously I'm willing to pay for the piece plus shipping so please let me know if there are any donors out there.

seriously.. square that hole up.... then bend a piece of poster board to that shape and trace it. Then cut the part out of metal and bend it.. weld it in and grind the welds and you will never know it was replaced.

Thanks Eddie. I'm sure I could make it using the method you mentioned, just thought if anyone had a scrap piece it would make it easier on me. Totally new to this so appreciate the advice.

Honestly, Eddie’s method is the simplest and easiest. Harbor Freight tools sells an 18” bender perfect for this and it’s about $40. Home Depot will probably have small squares of 18 gauge metal.

Thanks guys. I'm driving into town tomorrow so will check out the bender at Harbor Freight. Probably going to need one for the GPW anyway.

Hi all
Rotted out or flutes needing repair ????
Anyone can make these cheaply without having to buy a complete front/back or side panel !!!!
couple strips of 1/4 thick by 1 inch strip and you can easy make them yourself
here`s a little former I made that took no more than 20 minutes
spend a bit longer an you`ll have an even better one
two pieces of 1/4 thick X 1 inch bar grind a 45 degree on one side of each bar.
with a short length do the same and round off the end.
make a cross piece that will be the top former and make a curve with the 45 degree angle
if you want to make the lower flute on either the front or rear panel then make two and cut the long bars to the correct length.
make up a former and with a BFH if you don`t have a HF press beat crap out of it just like I did
I`d post the pics but seems my phone takes to large an image !!!!

That terribly bubba’d Trailer of mine is back in my control. If you’re patient, I’ll get you a piece to patch.
