V-226/G Trailer Generator Set
So a friend found this for me because I have a Mighty Mite. From the pictures it took me a while to figure out just what the heck it was and now that I have it and the data plate I know what it is...sort of. Anyone have any more information on these or what kind of generator it used to have? I only found 1 V-226 that still had a generator and it had a massive 5kw generator which was larger that whatever was original to this trailer.

I can't imagine anything smaller that a 5K generator needing or being designed for a trailer. 5K is a small unit in the world towed Generators.

I have a pic of a data plate that isn't the "A" model your plate indicates...slightly different layout:

Re: V-226/G Trailer Generator Set
I have been looking but not much popping up.
Here is a thread on SS.
https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthrea ... estions-on
One of the links shows a TM for the trailer... just not what fits in it. The trailer was apparently used for several applications.

Translation is great too
"There is "TRAILER GENERATOR SET V226 / G" on the caution plate.
The year is 1962. Then the soldiers of Meriken are M38A1
Did you mean that you were dragging a generator or a welder?
Suspension is a structure like an ancient cruel mouse rattling instrument.
Because the weight of the load is constant, it does not have to be a leaf."

That is some heavy instrumentation and electronics... they talk about filed hospital use but I think it is more... individual phase gages and just the looks screams of some other special use.
I would say some type of radio, radar or direction finding generator system.

Re: V-226/G Trailer Generator Set
That is a fine specimen of a V-226 that you have there. I have done a lot of searching for information on these and have found little more than what you have so far. The photo of the red one that you posted is the only complete V-226 that I have ever seen (I also found it a while back on Steel Soldiers right after the owner sold it). I have contacted the Arlington Museum, the National Archives, and the USMC in search of a technical manual with no luck. I'm still looking through old PS magazines but haven't found anything yet. The closest I have come is the trailer for the 350-GPM pump (NSN 4320-01-526-5278) - the chassis, axle, and wheels are the same as the V-226. The only things I have learned about them is that a relatively small number of them were made under a contract with the Navy, the correct wheels for it are M38/M38A1 wheels, and the unique torsion axle was made by Linco.
The chassis trailer you posted a picture of (from my old thread) is for the 350-gpm pump.
