Repro Panels

Post by nick peters » Sun Jul 23, 2017 11:31 am

Hello Everyone
Do any of you have an opinion on how close the repro front and rear panels are when compared against originals. Also the same question regarding the floor panels.
regards Nick

Someone here was complaining about some repro-floor pans not fitting. I bought an MD Juan pan from a US dealer anyway, but sure enough it was too long. So you may want to ask for measurements before you get one. But I will say that having a nice sturdy floor new floor pan is quite an improvement over the old wavy one that was in there. For me it isn't a big deal since it isn't a perfect restoration, just needs a little modification before I install my rear panel.

Hey Jim
Thank you for your response. At least if the floors a little too long it can be trimmed down. More of a pain if the floor panel was too short
Any opinion on the front/ rear panels?
regards Nick

I am about to order a rear panel. I guess I can let you know.
Or maybe by now, you can let me know.

Hiya Mate,

It was Hellfire that had some trouble with his trailer tub, but I think it was a complete tub.

The Welch girls where missing you at The Yorkshire War Experence :D

Hope that you and Pauline are ok?

The "early" MDJ tubs were too long for the frames. I believe they corrected that problem but when,,,i dunno.

Hello Dave
Thanks for that :) I forgot to book in for that Yorkshire show  Hope it was a good event. Were all good down in sunny Leicestershire :) Thanks for the info as well Chuck. Don't need a full body for this trailer just a front panel.
regards Nick

Well, apparently some reputable parts suppliers are still stocking at least the floor panels that are too long. I just received mine a couple months ago.

I was referring to the whole tub, not the individual floor panels...I have no current info on them being installed and if the length is an issue though.

Hey Chuck
The producers of the repro tubs may not be entirely to blame! They may have copied one of those ultra rare long wheelbase trailers

I recently purchased a complete tub from as supplier here in Australia. The length was exactly 6' & fitted the chassis/frame correctly. The width was good also & fitted well. The tub on the whole was slightly out of square (hard to pick unless you measure) & defiantly not water proof (I used sicaflex on all internal joints in tub & stress cracks in plate from pressing, no worries now) I had to re position both front panel hooks to correct positions. I also had to purchase mudguards/fenders & these need a lot of extra work to be fitted up (the pre drilled holes on the guards don't match the brackets fitted to the tub) & make four new angle brackets for the chassis/frame joints as the original one wouldn't fit.
Now that it is fitted & painted it looks good.
