Found: A ton of original trailers in the Philippines!

Post by macaddict23 » Tue Apr 04, 2017 1:12 am

I posted the following on G503 Facebook a few weeks ago, and 'thought I'd share here . . .

While driving through farm areas in the northern part of the Philippines (Vigan, Ilocos Sur) I saw seven ww2 trailers in a two-block radius, and two more on the side of the main highway being repaired. The two below were being used at a pottery shop. They've all been modified, but pretty darn cool just to see one, let alone nine!

Here's the first of two trailers at the pottery shop:

Here's the second trailer at the shop. Both trailers, according to the owner, were purchased from a local salvage yard many decades ago.

Around the corner, I found this red trailer. It was actually for sale. I had no intentions of bringing it back to Cali (shipping would be killer), but he was asking $400.

Around another corner was this trailer. You can still make out the star on the rear panel and some markings along the rear crossmember. Unfortunately, I couldn't take a close pic.

As we got on the highway, I saw two more being repaired at welding shop. It was a two-lane highway, and it wasn't safe to pull over and stop.

Nice and they look to be in decent shape. Too bad they are SO far away, huh!!!

This is the one I saw on my last trip to Thailand. I wanted it so bad but the farmer who owns it won't sell. Oh well...
