As we tow our trailers with a Dodge & don't have a compatible spare wheel on the back as a jeep does.
We knocked up a spare wheel carrier that mounts underneath the trailer using existing holes in chassis cross members & is supported also between the upper shock mount & chassis reinforcing plate.
If anyone wants a cutting list, let me know

Re: Willys/Bantam Trailer spare tyre carrier.
Hi Brett,
That is soooo cool, and I've been looking around for drawings for similar setups. I'll be towing the July 1943 Willys MBT i bought from France with my 1945 Dodge WC51, and in case of a flat on the trailer, I'm stuck, exactly like you. But with a spare....
Du you happen to have photos of it on the trailer`? That would be very helpful.

Re: Willys/Bantam Trailer spare tyre carrier.
Thank you sooooo much, Brett! REALLY appreciate all the very detailed and clear photos. Now I'll have no problems having my mechanic make one for me. I originally had planned to use one of the replica SAS style spare wheel holders as made by WW2 Fabrications in the UK. I purchased one and had planned to place it somewhere underneath the rear of the MBT trailer. Your model is a lot more sturdy and I will not stand to lose a spare wheel due to the screw fastener coming loose from vibrations. This simpler holder does its job on the hood of a Jeep, though:

Do you have any ideas for mounting the spare tire on top of the draw bars at the front of the trailer?

Re: Willys/Bantam Trailer spare tyre carrier.
There actually already IS a spare wheel carrier mounted onto the MBT (!) Courtesy of the French army, who also replaced the rear lights with 24 volt standard Nato units, and the lunette with a Ben Hur one, including the chains and hooks.
My guess is that its done at French motor pool, or higher, level, as I have seen numerous ex French army trailers with these carriers.
Putting the SAS type spare wheel tire carrier on the drawbar is a great idea. I have to consider that.
